Court One’s mission is to offer members and their guests an opportunity to improve the quality of their lifestyle through comprehensive fitness programs and recreational sports activities, delivered with a personal touch.
Goal: To never treat a Court One member as just a number, we treat every individual as though we are “in it together”. We welcome feedback and appreciate the loyalty of our existing members. Than when you meet the Staff of Court One Athletic Clubs you will recognize the difference.

Our History
The Randy Company was formed in the spring of 1979. Dr. Andrew L. Messenger and Richard D. Ferman, Jr. formed the partnership for the specific purpose of acquiring and operating what was once the Greater Lansing Racquet Club. Court One Athletic Club (North), as it is now known, is located at 1609 Lake Lansing Road in Lansing Township. The building was constructed in the summer and fall of 1971 by International Tennis Corporation of Detroit, Michigan. The original facility included eight indoor tennis courts and the existing clubhouse. The four outdoor hard courts were added in 1973.
In the spring of 1981, the Randy Company acquired what was once known as the Lansing Tennis Club. Now Court One Athletic Club (East), it is located at 2291 Research Circle in Okemos, Michigan. The building was constructed in 1971 and opened formally on December 19 of that year. The original structure included six indoor courts and the current clubhouse facility.
Four outdoor courts were added in 1976 and four additional indoor courts were constructed in 1979. During the summer and early fall of 1986, four outdoor clay courts and a 2,250 square foot outdoor swimming pool were added at Court One North. In, addition, a 4200 square foot fitness center was constructed at Court One East. During the summer of 1989, indoor and outdoor pools were added to Court One East, while a basketball court and fitness center replaced two existing indoor courts at the North facility.
During the fall of 1998, two indoor tennis courts at Court One East were renovated to include a full-court basketball court, with two half courts, two volleyball courts, and a free weight fitness area.
During the summer of 2007, Court One North added equipment for indoor baseball practice, equipment includes:
- Pitching machines
- Four hitting cages
- Pitching mounds
- Outdoor youth ball field
- Home to Grand Slam Baseball Academy and 7 youth travel baseball teams
- Coaching Staff with college and professional experience
During the summer of 2008, Court One North has been renovated to include two outdoor full-court basketball courts, with four half courts. Two new indoor full-court basketball courts were added, the cardiovascular and weight fitness areas were doubled in size. The aerobic studio was renovated and the new kids activity area was added for childcare and to promote healthy lifestyle for kids.

Areas served:
We pride ourselves as being a top Michigan Athletic Club. We proudly serve and currently have members from East Lansing, Lansing, Dewitt, Holt, Okemos, Williamston, Haslett, St. Johns, Grand Ledge, Potterville, Portland, Fowlerville, Charlotte, Mason, Eaton Rapids and Perry. Many players from these area high schools will come to Court One Athletic Clubs for specialized high level training in basketball, baseball and tennis. If you would like to improve your child’s chances at making the high school team, or maybe even work on a college scholarship in his/her favorite sport, Court One can help!
